About Gavin’s Journey & TGGF
Gavin was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer known as Rhabdomyosarcoma on 19th October 2011 at the age of 18 months old. He had a small lump on his bum cheek which we then found out was a large tumour which was covering his whole pelvic region and had also spread to his lungs. Rhabdomyosarcoma is a cancerous (malignant) tumour of the muscles that are attached to the bones.
About the Travel Assistance Program
The mission of the Foundation is to assist families with all the logistics and financial aspects of travelling overseas for specialist cancer treatment not available in Ireland.
Supporting the parents in accessing and organising that care is what the Foundation does.
Keeping the whole family together, during travel for a child’s cancer treatment, is essential for the wellbeing of the patient, as well as the parents and siblings.
This is why The Foundation covers the travel and accommodation costs for the whole family.
By taking the financial burden and stress away from the families, it allows parents to focus all their time on their child and family.
